Over the years Nintendo has had its ups and major downs. I have spent decades of my life sat in front of a screen playing Nintendo games which kept me up all night and to the early hours. It was the older gen computers such as the NES, N64, and Gameboys which really cemented my love for gaming. The older gen games such as Zelda ocarina of time, Mario 64, Pokemon, Goldeneye, Banjo and Kazooie, Diddy Kong racing, just had so much to offer a gamer of any age. 

However, for quite some time and pretty much since the N64 I haven’t really enjoyed the Nintendo devices such as the Wii, Wii U, 3Ds, it wasn’t so much the devices that I had an issue with, it was more the games that were being developed for them, they just didn’t seem to have the same shine or level of creation. I naturally moved on to other devices such as the Dreamcast, then Playstation and Xbox range. All of which offered a much more mature, advanced level of gameplay which I still love the most today. 

I had all but forgotten about Nintendo, it seemed to just be a brand I would look back on and remember the good old days. Until last year when I noticed a short clip put out from Nintendo promising of the best device they have created, with all forms of ways to play either on your own, or with friends. I was skeptical about this new device and when I noticed the detachable Joy cons I thought this will just be another failed attempt to create something different, such as the Wii.

Then I saw a clip for promoting a new game for the Switch and to my surprise It was one of my favorite gaming series – Zelda, the game was called Breath of the wild, I was intrigued to say the least, watching through the trailer It looked stunning, the graphics, design, artwork, game play, just looked flawless, I was blown away by it and then I started to research more about this secret device, codenamed at the time as NX. The moreresearch I found the more excited I became by this new (saviour) for Nintendo and I couldn’t wait for it to be released, so much so that I pre ordered it 3 months prior to its release, thankfully because when the Switch dropped, it sold out everywhere! Nintendo literally could not keep up with the sales and were perhaps a little overwhelmed given that their previous devices had not be so well received or had so much critical acclaim.
