The region’s largest dedicated gaming festival is gearing up for its second edition with the release of a discounted pre-sale ticket as part of Eid celebrations.
31/05/2018 Abu Dhabi – UAE, Middle East Games Con have announced the news that a ticket pre-sale will be released for Eid on 15/06/2018. Following the inaugural edition in 2017, the annual event is now offering the opportunity for all the visitors that had a great experience last year to book early for a limited time and get a free ‘player kit’ (AED 250)
with their 3-day ticket (AED 299). Visitors will still be able to upgrade their passes to get celebrity experiences once the headline international & regional names from the YouTube and gaming community are announced. Full ticket packages will be on sale in September, with the event taking place on 25-27 October 2018, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The event was started by the organisers of Middle East Film & Comic Con and has been another step on Informa Middle East’s pop culture journey. The team behind the recently established Pop Culture division, created by the world’s largest event organisers, have exciting plans to expand on the themes and variety of consumer events within the region, and the globe, in the next few years.
"Our goal is to provide a fantastic experience for gaming fans by providing a regional gaming convention that didn't exist before," said Suzy Pallett, Vice President – Consumer at Informa Global Exhibitions. "At the same time the consumer event underpins the industry that Informa will be supporting through keynote conferences and B2B networking opportunities addressing both the opportunities and challenges of the MENA region.”
The inaugural event in 2017 saw thousands of gamers pack out the Entertainment Stage daily to watch international YouTubers battle it out and entertain the crowd (Headlined by Ali A – a YouTuber with 14M Subscribers). The event was lit with the glowing faces of delighted gamers testing out new and unreleased games using the latest tech in all corners of the dark convention. Around every turn is a different controller, a different experience from VR to IRL (real-life) and another screen flashing the bright lights of a
new gaming experience. The event ticks all boxes for gamers, tech and gadget enthusiasts and Otaku lovers.
Finlay Parr, Project Manager, Informa Exhibitions for Middle East Games Con explained: “Last year was great fun, and we learnt a lot from it too! Visitors can expect to see an evolution this year, we’re expanding the variety of content through workshops and B2B Intelligence opportunities and growing inclusion of Otaku, anime and manga content. There will be more hang-out/ chill-out zones and a food village within the Halls with more activities, education areas to learn how to get in to the industry and become the next big game developer, and options to entertain our younger audience. We’ve reviewed the ticket structure and expanded on our guest experience opportunities. Most importantly we’ve moved the dates to secure more unreleased games from studios & publishers.”
“We’re working with the industry and are investing in areas of the show that will really help the local community grow, through discussions with educational establishments and supporting Indie developers to participate. In the office, we’re fondly describing it as ‘levelling-up’ and we’re really excited to watch the event grow for its next edition.”
